I watched the video clip from the BBC but it was disappointing, they seem to have just taken a tiny clip from a full review. And I'm guessing they chose the positive bit...!
Still though, wouldn't it be great?
According to Wired the project is floundering a bit due to lack of investment... the prototypes in existence need work before they deliver on MDI's full promises, but investment is needed to do the work but investors want to see it working before investing and so on and so on...
God I hope somebody gives them money.

It's bitterly ironic that governments don't invest in Air Cars, but waste billions on Space travel and wars. This situation shows that Govts are much more concerned about protecting the narrow interests of Oil companies than the interests of our planet..
The most aggravating thing about MDI on the internet is the same info year after year and no response to inquiries. No wonder anyone without the where with all to get to France has to wonder if it truly is a workable machine. I believe it should have a wind power apparatus like a squirrel cage fan on the front that would spin and operate a compressor or the electrical charging system and forget the filling station idea and the hybrid system or braking regeneration and all the other complicated stuff that is keeping it off the road while our planet is suffocating itself.
We dont have enough electricity in our country to light homes, let alone cars. Same amount of fuel will be needed by the electric plants, so i dont see we have a drastic beneficial idea here.
