New Image features in Blogger - ech.
The new image features in Blogger, which I've just noticed are a bit of a pain. I hope they are not leaving them like that...
They result in code bloat, unnecessary javascript, non standard code for XHTML strict and they assume you want every image to be a link... which I don't!
AND it renames your images and creates multiple files on your server instead of just one... AND the code doesn't include width and height properties, which puts a little extra pressure on browsers...
Please god let them not be finished implementing or something...
If we could just have the choice between the new features and the old... it would only have to be another radio button - image inline, no link. And use the old code: a straighforward img tag, no extra junk.
Also I just noticed the spell check dictionary doesn't have Blogger in it! Funny. :)

Sensory Research Limited website goes live.
Yup, the website for Sensory Research Limited, or SRL, went live today. This is a project myself and Tom R have been working on. I was particularly happy with the logo, which is quite different and exciting.

9mmfilm.com on BBC Collective site
9mmFilm.com is featured on BBC Collective's web column this week, specifically 'We're Going Sailing' is mentioned.
We're honoured to be mentioned alongside other great animators, a big thanks to BBC collective!
Be sure and check out some of the other sites that get a mention - there's some lovely stuff there.

Foon.co.uk - Hapland 2
Foon.co.uk - Hapland 2
I have no idea why I stayed at this... but I did, I eventually completed it - it's ridiculously satisfying for something so stupid when you complete it. You have to keep doing it over and over until you work out the right sequence...
I had to google for a couple of hints before I managed to complete it though because I could not figure out how to get rid of the flag hanging over the window.
I think I stayed at it because it really reminded me of some bizarre type of game a friend and I invented in primary school where one person would draw elaborate scenarios like this one and the other had to figure out how to navigate it... I don't even remember the rules but it looked a lot like this.

Antony and the Johnsons
Antony, of Antony and the Johnsons has a beautiful voice. A friend of mine was playing the album "I am a bird now" when I walked into the room and I was immediately fascinated. His voice is immediately and simultaneously heartbreaking and uplifting.
If you haven't come heard them yet (which is probably unlikely - I am always the last to hop on the bandwagon) you have to hear them asap.
See a video for Antony and the Johnsons "Hope There's Someone", by up-and-coming NYC director Glen Fogel. (quicktime format)
The official Antony and the Johnsons site doesn't have a huge amount of interest on it, but it does have biogs and tour dates. I'd love to see them live, but they are not playing in my city... which is crazy, but Cork needs some good music venues and promoters to sort out that issue. I would go see them in Dublin but I'm going to Al Green a couple of days after and I just can't do two trips that close together...
I also found a nice Antony and the Johnsons discography with some small MP3 clips for some of the songs - worth checking out.
The album 'I am a bird now' also features guest vocals from Devenra Banhart, Boy George, Lou Reed, Rufus Wainright and Julia Yasuda.
Well worth getting your hands on.
